India will help Nepal to improve security system at Nepal airport

kathmanduNew Delhi: India has proposed Nepal to improve the immigration and security system at Nepal’s International airport situated in Kathmandu with the intentions to forbid another similar strike that was happened in December 24, 1999.

To surge the immigration relations between Nepal and India, both countries have been indulged in a two-day bilateral talks on January 16, 2012, between Home Secretary of India RK Singh and the Home Secretary of Nepal Sushil Jung Rana.

11 years after the hijack of Indian IC-814 flight that was en-rooted to Delhi from Kathmandu and the hijackers were successful to brought weapons on the aircraft but no security system at the Nepal airport was able to identify the convicts.

After that incidence, India started to send NSG commandos with the all the flights en-rooted to Nepal, and the passengers from Nepal are kept under special security checks.

“Indian help to boost the immigration and security apparatus at Kathmandu’s International airport to plug any remaining loopholes that could jeopardize passenger safety,” one of the officials told.

Also Nepal is trying to uncover the racket that originates duplicate Indian banknotes in Pakistan and transfer this duplicate Indian currency to Nepal for easy transaction to India through the Nepal-India border.

Whereas, India is aiding Nepal for the enhancement of its police training facilities by training the Nepalese police staff in Indian police institutes, the sources added.
